Say bye-bye to software piracy.
There is a direction that software is heading many programmers know it quite well, many folks outside the realm of programming do not. Sure Microsoft does not condone software piracy but they also don't aggressively try and stop it. Why might you ask? It falls in the concept of trial, shareware, and demo software. Get the person hooked to the software, so hooked it is in their daily lifestyle and when times up the odds of them purchasing it is very great. Soon most software will be leased in other words you will have the opportunity to purchase a subscription to use the software whether it is monthly or yearly. Software will be so integrated into the Internet there will not be a concept of having to use CD's, DVD's, and downloads for software installation, everything will run in your web browser or on your Live desktop. Back to software piracy, there will be no applications to hack or crack anymore so the lost revenue of the past will turn into a new revenue stream of the future. So future software "Internet application" will be ran by logging into your account and using what software you are subscribed to. Software giants like Microsoft may see piracy (which is too costly to control) as a long term investment. I see a bright future for these software pioneers and the .net age.
